This winter, at Robert Smith School, we are planning to do cultural programming in the following areas:
-Beading
-Metis sash making
-Jigging
-Playing the spoons
-Making bannock and traditional foods
We haven’t set the dates yet, but this programming will be offered for parents/guardians and their children after school one day a week for eight weeks. Together, along with school staff, participants will have the chance to:
-Sing and learn rhymes together
-Share food together
-Dance and jig together
-Look at picture books together
There will also be separate parent and child time where adults will have the chance to visit and engage in cultural activities together, while children play and do crafts with teacher supervision in another area.
If you, along with one or more of your children, have an interest in the activities described above, please feel free to contact Margo Yeomans, Robert Smith School counsellor, at (204) 482 3677 extension 208 or by email at [email protected].
